THE AHC

The Association of Humanist Celebrants is a voluntary organisation of independent Humanist Celebrants and supporters who remain individually responsible for the content and quality of any service they may provide. AHC does not promote itself as an organisation in competition with other providers of Humanist ceremonies or actively seek new members. It welcomes into membership those who of their own accord wish to join, for whatever reasons.

AHC does not require its members to adhere to any rigid doctrine or strict rules about the way they should prepare and conduct their ceremonies. What they do is between them and those who engage their services. However, Humanist Celebrants are by definition Humanists invited to conduct Humanist Ceremonies. Those seeking to have a Humanist Ceremony are entitled to expect that the person conducting their ceremony is doing so with integrity and conviction, as a Humanist.
AHC has no paid staff or premises. It is not run as a business enterprise. Members pay a small annual subscription to meet the minimal expenses of maintaining their membership organisation. There is an occasional Newsletter for members only.

The benefit of AHC membership is that it gives members a means of exchanging their experience in preparing and conducting ceremonies. In particular, they can learn from others what pieces of music, poetry and other ceremony elements have been found useful and appealing and, in return, pass on their own discoveries. The public benefit provided by AHC is the provision of useful information and celebrants for those who want to celebrate the important events in their lives without religion.

This AHC Website aims to provide sufficient information about Humanism and Humanist Ceremonies to satisfy initial enquiries from members of the general public and show where and how they may find a Humanist Celebrant in their area.

Enquiries from prospective AHC members can be addressed to any existing member or one of the current officers of the Association:
